In June, we announced that Santa Barbara BCycle stations were unanimously approved for use on the Waterfront, including along Cabrillo Ave, Funk Zone, and surrounding coastal areas.
Since then, our team has installed more than 60 docks across 10 new station locations in the Coastal Zone. Waterfront stations currently reach from the Santa Barbara Harbor to South Milpas Street, just a few blocks from the Santa Barbara Zoo, with more expansion planned in the coming weeks.
"Since we launched in January, we've consistently heard from riders that they were excited for more stations, specifically along the Waterfront. That's made the approval of these stations even more exciting for us, knowing that so many riders are ready to hop on an e-bike to get to the coast."
-General Manager Jesse Rosenberg
When Santa Barbara BCycle initially launched service on January 28, most of the over 20 stations were along State Street, with few stations sprinkled throughout other neighborhoods around the downtown area. Today, the number of stations has nearly doubled with almost 50 stations around Santa Barbara, expanding to North State, East and West Side, and now Coastal Zone.
